This entry level course covers the fundamentals of diagnosing treating and preventing STDs. Participants will improve skills and gain practical experience through hands-on training (approximately 50% of the course) and traditional lecture presentations.
Elgibility. This course is intended for healthcare professionals who have very limited experience working with STD patients, generally less than six months.
Course Objectives: At the end of this course participants should be able to:
Review how to diagnose, treat, follow up, counsel patients and manage sex partners for all priority and prevalent STDs including HIV infection.
Conduct a complete sexual history, develop skills in examining male and female patients and properly collect laboratory specimens.
Describe and interpret the basic stat laboratory tests to aid in STD diagnosis.

This introductory clinical course is intended for healthcare professionals whose duties include managing patients with STDs. STD Intensive will provide in-depth information on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of STDs. Participants will improve skills and gain practical experience through hands on training (approximately 50% of the course) and lecture presentations.
Target Audience: Public health clinicians ( physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses) who work in STD clinics or spend the majority of their time managing patients with STDs. This course is also appropriate for clinicians who work in family planning, adolescent health and women's health clinics with one year of experience or more.

STD Advanced is designed for the clinician who has experience in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with STDs. This comprehensive course includes discussion of the complications and sequelae with special considerations for priority and prevalent STDs. Target Audience: Applicants should have a minimum of 12 months of clinical experience managing patients with STDs.
